What can the city do better to fund and address aging roads and water and sewer systems and prepare for future infrastructure needs?Īs a newer city, Rancho Santa Margarita doesn’t have the aging infrastructure concerns of older cities. And I will propose that we join the OC Housing Finance Trust as most other cities have done in the county. I will seek out developers who can help us achieve that goal and vote for projects that include a small percentage of lower-priced units. I will embrace the chance to allow more people to call our beautiful city home. Our city was assigned a modest goal to zone for 680 units in the next eight years.

Lack of adequate housing is a threat to economic vitality in the county as well as in Rancho Santa Margarita which just saw the closing of one of its largest stores.

How can the city best meet the demand and mandates for more housing, including at lower prices, while also preserving the quality of life for existing neighborhoods and residents?
